SETUP


Step 1. Connections


Connect the Mixdeck Express with your computer using the provided USB cable.
Connect your speakers to the rear Master Output using proper RCA cables and your Headphones to the front socket.

Step 2. Drivers


No drivers are required to be installed. The Numark Mixdeck Express is a USB Class Compliant device and your Operating system will automatically install the necessary drivers when the unit is connected to your computer.

Step 3. VirtualDJ


Install VirtualDJ 8 from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html (in case you have not done already)

Start VirtualDJ and login with your Account credentials.

A Pro Infinity, Pro Subscription or Plus Mixdeck Express Controller License is required. http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Detection Window
A detection window will appear when the unit is first connected with VirtualDJ.

Click on the "Use Soundcard" button so that VirtualDJ will apply the pre-defined audio configuration (speakers need to be connected to the Master Output of the unit)

Make sure that both left and right channels on the mixer section of the MixDeck Express are set to PC and you have toggled each CD player to MIDI mode via the SOURCE button.

The Mixdeck Express is now ready to operate with VirtualDJ
 

MIXER CONTROLS






KEY

ACTION

1 CROSSFADER
Blends audio signals from left and right decks
2 VOLUME
Adjust Volume Output for Left and Right deck
3 CUE/PFL
Send the audio signal of a Mixer Channel to the Headphones Channel
4 EQ BASS
Adjust the Equalizer Low Band frequencies (Bass) of each mixer channel
5 EQ MID
Adjust the Equalizer Middle Band frequencies of each mixer channel
6 EQ HIGH
Adjust the Equalizer High Band frequencies (Treble) of each mixer channel
7 GAIN
Adjust the pre-fader Output level (Gain) of each mixer channel
8 CH SOURCE
Select the Source of each mixer channel. Set both Left and Right switchers to PC position to control left and right assigned VirtualDJ decks
9 CUE GAIN
Adjust the Output Level of the Headphones Channel
10 MASTER VOL
Adjust the Level of the Master Output
11 CUE/PFL CROSSFADER
Blends audio signal in the Headphones Channel from the Master Output and the mixer channels that have been sent to the Headphones via the CUE/PFL buttons


The entire mixer section of the Numark Mixdeck Express does not send MIDI signals to the software and works as analogue dj mixer, therefor none of the mixer section controls will control the VirtualDJ internal mixer and no movements will be visible on the GUI
 

DECK CONTROLS

12 CUE
Sets a Temporary Cue when paused and previews track from Cue while pressed Jumps track to Cue point when playing
13 PLAY
Play-pauses deck
14 EJECT
When in Software mode, swaps left/right decks . When used on the left side swaps control between Decks 1 and 3 and when used on Right side, swaps control between Decks 2 and 4
15 SCRATCH
Toggles between the Scratch (Vinyl) and Bend (CD) modes for the Jogwheel
16 SEARCH
Sets Jogwheel to Seek/Search mode for fast seek through track
17 JOG
Touch-sensitive jogwheel for scratch, bend and seek, depending on the selected mode
18 PITCH BEND
Temporary slow-down/speed-up track's speed. Tempo will be resumed to the value designated by the pitch fader, once the buttons are released
19 PITCH
Adjust track;s tempo
20 REVERSE
Play track in reverse while pressed
21 BRAKE
Applies a BrakeStart effect (simulating a Vinyl record playback)
22 RANGE
Select a -/+ % range for the Pitch fader (6%, 12%, 25% and 100%). Hold down for more than 2 seconds to enable/disable KeyLock (Master Tempo)
23 SOURCE
Select the Source that the Deck section will control. Select the MIDI PC Source to control a VirtualDJ deck
24 TAP
Tap on tempo to manually calculate BPM and Phase
25 LOOP IN
Set a Loop In (Start) point for a manual loop
26 LOOP OUT
Set a Loop Out (End) point for a manual loop. Exit Loop when Loop is enabled
27 RELOOP
Enable last triggered Loop. Exit loop when enabled.
When MODE button is pressed, set Jogwheel to Loop Move Adjust mode
28 PROGRAM
Not used
29 MODE
While pressed, secondary actions apply on other controls
30 TIME
Toggle Time Display between Elapsed and Remain Time.
When MODE is pressed, cycles Tracks Info view on the LCD through 4 different modes
31 BACK
Set focus to Folders list. If focus is in Folders List, open/close sub-folders
32 TRACK
Scroll through Folders or Files.
Push to load the selected track to the deck. When focus is on Folders list, set focus to Songs list if folder has tracks or selects/expands next folder when not
33 LCD
Displays Loaded Track's Info, such as Artist, Title, BPM, Pitch, Pitch range, Times and Progress bar
